ALISON TOPKIS

About

Alison Topkis was born and raised in New York City. She began tap dancing, singing, and musical theater classes at the age of 10. She fell in love with theater, and realized she loved to act and do comedy more specifically. At the age of 15, she wanted an agent. Naturally, he parents were hesitant to send her into this industry at such a young age. She walked down to the Drama Book Shop and purchased the book of agents in the tristate area. She emailed 50 agencies with a picture of her headshot and résumé, and did not tell her parents. She eventually heard back from 7 agencies, and after realizing she needed a parent or guardian present to meet with her, she told her parents. Her dad took her to a couple, and she booked an agent and signed a contract until she was 18.  She created an improv course at her high school, wrote the curriculum, pitched it to the department chairs, and successfully filled an entire class that then continued at the school after she left. After many years of acting workshops, comedy classes, and summer programs, she spent her senior year of high school auditioning for BFA Acting programs at Universities. She ended up at the University of Miami, and transferred out of the rigid BFA program because she wanted to take film classes as well. She will be graduating in 2024 with a BA in Theater Arts and a minor in Film. Alison expects to start auditioning again after graduation, and break into the industry she's been dreaming to be a part of.
